A short explanation of this blog:

Hello! My name is Anya Mitchell and I am currently a student (and trying to remain a student) at Savannah College of Art and Design. This year I am an independent student, which means if I need more money beyond what financial aid, my scholarships and grants can cover for my educational expenses I have to take out an alternative loan. Though alternative loans are the worst loans to get, I was willing to get one and invest in myself and in my education to make up the gap between the estimated cost of tuition and the financial aid I was awarded. However, due to my personal circumstances, I do not have a co-signer, and since I was a full-time student, I did not make an annual income last year so no lender will give me a loan.

Since I cannot take out an alternative loan my options are limited, and so in order to raise money I have created a viewbook outlining what I want to do with my education, what I want to do with my art, the financial breakdown of my situation, and a character review section with letters of recommendation from my professors, letter from the dean and transcript of my academic record.

My goal of creating this viewbook (pages of which make up the content of this blog) is to communicate with people what I am trying to do and in turn raise money and generate more ideas on how I can raise money for my education.

Previous to coming to SCAD, I took two years off from my studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I took that time to find a school I felt was truly a good fit for me and where I was meant to be. I eventually was lead to SCAD's fibers department. Upon looking at the courses they offered I knew it was where I wanted to go because I found myself wanting to take every single course. The excitement I had coming to SCAD has not changed since I have been here. If anything, it has increased and I want to remain here and finish my undergraduate degree.

What I ask of you, those who have one way or another found your way to this blog, is your support. I ask you to go through my viewbook, make suggestions, pass on my story to anyone you think would like to help, donate a dollar or simply keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Whatever form your support might take I will graciously accept it.

Again, thank you for your time and consideration and please pass a link of this blog on to anyone you think who would like to help!
